Small Scale Relocatable Modular Gold CIL
The small-scale relocatable modular gold CIL (Carbon In Leach) plant is a compact, mobile solution for extracting gold using activated carbon adsorption combined with cyanide leaching. This modular system integrates leaching and carbon adsorption into a single continuous process, simplifying operations while maintaining high gold recovery rates—ideal for small-scale mining, remote locations, or trial production.
This relocatable plant can process sulfide ore, oxidized ore, alluvial ore, and certain-grade tailings to recover gold.
Process Description
The production process of the relocatable modular CIL (Carbon-in-Leach) plant for gold extraction consists of material feeding, chemical mixing, leaching & aeration, carbon adsorption, and subsequent refining stages.
1. Material Feeding
A slurry pump pumps the ground ore slurry from the ball mill classifier into the cone thickener.
The cone thickener performs initial concentration by dewatering the slurry to achieve optimal density for leaching.
2. Chemical Mixing
The concentrated slurry flows into the mixing tank, where leaching agents (cyanide and lime) are added via chemical pumps.
The mixing tank ensures homogeneous distribution of reagents in the slurry for maximum gold dissolution efficiency.
3. Leaching & Aeration
The conditioned pulp enters a series of CIL leaching tanks arranged in a cascade configuration.
A Roots blower (air pump) introduces compressed air into the tanks to enhance oxidation and leaching reaction kinetics.
Cyanide solution dissolves gold from the ore into the liquid phase under controlled pH and oxygen levels.
4. Carbon Adsorption
Activated carbon is added to the leaching tanks to adsorb dissolved gold through countercurrent contact with the slurry.
The carbon & slurry separation screen extracts gold-loaded carbon from the pulp, which is then sent for elution.
Depleted slurry (tailings) proceeds to filtration and environmental treatment.
5. Elution & Refining
Gold-loaded carbon undergoes desorption in a closed-loop system with heated eluant to strip gold.
A gold-rich solution is electrolyzed to produce gold sludge, which is smelted into high-purity (>99.99%) bullion.
Regenerated carbon returns to the adsorption circuit after thermal reactivation.
This mobile CIL system optimizes gold recovery while maintaining operational flexibility for small-scale mining sites.
